Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie

Cumann na mBunscol is an Irish organization dedicated to promoting Gaelic games, including football, hurling and camogie, in primary schools across Ireland. Established to foster a love of traditional Irish sports among young students, the program plays a central role in the development of Gaelic games at grassroots levels. Through Cumann na mBunscol, children in primary schools are introduced to football, hurling and camogie, encouraging both boys and girls to engage in these sports with enthusiasm and pride in Irish culture.
Football, hurling and camogie are not only beneficial for students’ physical health but also for building character, teamwork, and discipline. Cumann na mBunscol provides structured opportunities for inter-school competitions, where students can showcase their skills, learn about fair play, and experience the thrill of representing their school. These matches and tournaments create a strong sense of community and are often supported by local clubs and parents, fostering a supportive atmosphere.
In addition to competitions, Cumann na mBunscol also provides coaching resources to help teachers develop students’ skills, ensuring young players receive a high-quality introduction to the sports. By cultivating talent and enthusiasm, the program helps to ensure the future of Gaelic games in Ireland, enriching school life and national heritage alike.
Training is currently taking place in school for football and hurling. We also had our local coach Jack training the junior classes at the start of term.
