Digital Learning
In Scoil Naomh Pádraig we promote LEGO® Education
The LEGO® Learning System promotes ongoing development in students’ knowledge, skills, and confidence while instilling a lifelong passion for learning. Highly adaptable, the LEGO® Learning System fits effortlessly with or without technology. Implement the entire system at once or gradually introduce solutions as needed.
NextGenerationEU funded project - Digital Divide Grant
This school received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase new student laptops, student iPads, and a charging trolley which ensures all student laptops and iPads are charged and ready for use daily. All pupils now have equal access to technology during their school day.
Google Workspace
Google Workspace plays an important role in teaching and learning across the school, supported by a dedicated suite of laptops that allows pupils and teachers regular access to digital learning. Google Classroom is used to share lessons, assignments and resources, enabling teachers to organise learning clearly and provide timely feedback to pupils. Students can access their work easily, both in school and at home, supporting continuity of learning.
Google Docs, Slides and Sheets are widely used for writing, project work, presentations and collaborative tasks. Pupils learn to draft, edit and improve their work using tools such as spell check, comments and shared editing, which promotes independence and digital literacy. Collaborative features allow pupils to work together in real time, encouraging communication, teamwork and peer learning.
Google Drive provides a secure and organised space for storing work, ensuring that learning materials are not lost and can be revisited over time. Teachers use Google Forms for quizzes, assessments and surveys, allowing for quick analysis of pupil progress and understanding.
Overall, the use of Google Workspace, alongside the school’s laptop suite, enhances engagement, supports differentiated learning and prepares pupils with essential digital skills for future learning.
